I'm not at Clifftop....sigh!

Well...I didn't make it to Clifftop this weekend as my friends who did make it will see when they tune in here. But this was the next best place to be...on the river. To my delight the pileated woodpeckers are back and flying all over the river. Here is one of the first ones I saw. I heard some double knocks as well but couldn't find the exact location. I feel the possibility of an ivory bill increasing now that the woodpeckers are back from spring mating trips.

It rained on the river today and afterwards it smelled like wild anise. mmmmmm

  1. IBWO - I get the IBW, but what does the O stand for?

A friend of mine, now 70, was raised on a farm ENE of Dothan, with only woods east from the farm to the Chattahoochee River. She recalls her grandfather saying there were ivory bills in that wood.

I wish you good luck on your quest.
